Hotel overview

This welcoming 2-star lodge offers practical comfort with a quiet, motel-style atmosphere just minutes from downtown Dunsmuir. Rooms are neatly updated and feature conveniences such as mini-fridges, microwaves, and key code entry for easy, contactless arrival at any time. Although the building is older, recent renovations have enhanced comfort with clean linens, cozy beds, and thoughtful amenities supporting family stays and pet travel.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the close proximity to natural attractions including Hedge Creek Falls, Castle Crags State Park, and Mossbrae Falls, all within a short drive or walk. The location trades big city buzz for peaceful access to waterfalls, hiking trails, and charming local cafés, making it ideal for travelers seeking easy nature outings and relaxed small-town vibes.

Parking is convenient and free, right outside the rooms, while the absence of onsite dining encourages exploring the historic district’s eateries nearby. Staff interactions are remote but highly responsive, contributing to a secure, self-sufficient experience favored by guests who appreciate quiet, no-fuss stays with local character and scenic surroundings.

“It seeed newly renovated. The room was very clean and comfortable. Some mentioned in the reviews about the noise from the tran, but it was not bad at all. The bed was very comfortable.I appreciate that there were enough hooks and racks to hang towels, which is a minor thing, but it makes a difference . It was easy self check in. We'd come back!”

“Great communication throughout. Love the contactless checkin. Very clean with fantastic beds- we slept so well! Super quiet. Like the library /lounge area. Can’t beat the location. Parking is easy and right out front. Literally 20 seconds from the freeway but we heard nothing when the windows were closed. Great stay! We will definitely be back!”

“We had such a wonderful stay at Angler Lodge! Everything was extremely clean and thoughtfully maintained, and we felt very secure during our stay. I was initially hesitant about the motel-style layout, but the cameras around the property actually made it feel very safe and well looked after. The location is fantastic — just about a 6-minute walk to downtown with great restaurants nearby, and there’s even a charming coffee shop in a historic train caboose across the street which we loved. (Yaks is our favorite dinner spot and is super close! We did Cornerstone for breakfast and it was absolutely amazing!) There are a couple run-down houses next door, but that’s obviously outside the control of the lodge owners and it didn’t affect our stay at all. The lodge itself felt very clean, well cared for, and comfortable. Our suite was perfect for traveling with kids. The beds were cozy, the linens were clean and comfortable, and having a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot in the room were such thoughtful touches. Even though there isn’t staff onsite, communication was excellent — they were incredibly responsive and clearly care about their guests’ experience. Thank you for such a great stay. We would absolutely come back next time we’re in Dunsmuir!”

“One of the nicer hotels in Dunsmuir and very close to the historic district (the nicer section of Dunsmuir). Within walking distance to the cool brewery (live music on weekends). The rooms are clean and carpets new (at the time of this review). Super easy check in (just put in door code sent to you via text about 1 hr before entry). The lobby is a quiet reading room (with great travel brochures) to escape your loud family/friends. Would stay here again.”

“We stayed for one night on our road trip. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfy. Modern, quiet and had a cute mini fridge with separate freezer that kept liquid frozen; we were traveling with breastmilk for our child and the separate freezer was a pleasant surprise. Dog friendly and the town has cute cafes and restaurants nearby. We didn’t have trouble parking and felt that our things in the car were safe.”

“Rooms are cozy and beds are comfortable. Looks like they had some Renovation in the last few years but the building is old and you can hear foot stomps of folks who stay above you. I think you’d be fine if you stayed upstairs (as long as you’re ok hauling your luggage up the stairs). Touchfree contactless checkin makes it kinda convenient since you can arrive at any time.”
